C C F F C C
This land is your land, this land is my land
G G C C
From California to the New York Island
F F C C
From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters
G G C C
This land was made for you and me.

F F C C
As I went walking that ribbon of highway
G G C C
I saw above me that endless skyway
F F C C
I saw below me that golden valley
G G C C
This land was made for you and me.

This land is your land ...

F F C C
I roamed and I rambled and I followed my footsteps
G G C C
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
F F C C
While all around me a voice was sounding
G G C C
This land was made for you and me.

This land is your land ...

F F C C
When the sun came shining, and I was strolling
G G C C
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
F F C C
A A voice was chanting, As the fog was lifting,
G G C C
This land was made for you and me.

This land is your land ...

F F C C
As I went walking I saw a sign there
G G C C
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing."
F F C C
But on the other side it didn't say nothing,
G G C C
That side was made for you and me.

This land is your land ...

F F C C
In the squares of the city, In the shadow of a steeple;
G G C C
By the relief office, I'd seen my people.
F F C C
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking,
G G C C
Is this land made for you and me?

This land is your land ...

F F C C
Nobody living can ever stop me,
G G C C
As I go walking that freedom highway;
F F C C
Nobody living can make me turn back
G G C C
This land was made for you and me.

About this song

"This Land Is Your Land" is one of the United States' most famous folk songs. Its lyrics were written by Woody Guthrie in 1940 on a traditional melody, possibly a hymn. The first known professionally printed publication was in 1956 by Ludlow Music. In 2002, it was one of 50 recordings chosen that year by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry
