1ST VERSE

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
Dear Slim, I wrote you, but you still ain't callin

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
I sent two letters back in Autumn, you must not have got 'em

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
There probably was a problem with the post office or somethin'

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
Sometimes I scribble addresses too sloppy when I jot 'em

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
But anyway, what's been up man, how's your daughter?

C baritone chordC
My girlfriend's pregnant too, I'm bout to be a father

D baritone chordD C baritone chordC
If I have a daughter, guess what I'm a call her

Em baritone chordEm
I'm a name her Bonnie

C baritone chordC
I read about your Uncle Ronnie too, I'm sorry

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
I had a friend kill himself over some b**** who didn't want him

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
I know you probably hear this every day, but I'm your biggest fan

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
I even got that underground s*** that you did with Skam

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
I got a room full of your posters and your pictures man

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
I like that s*** you did with Rawkus too, that s*** was phat

C baritone chordC
Anyways, I hope you get this man, hit me back

D baritone chordD C baritone chordC
Just to chat, truly yours, your biggest fan, this is Stan

CHORUS

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
My tea's gone cold, I'm wonderin' why

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
Got out of bed at all

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
The morning rain clouds up my window

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
And I can't see at all

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
And even if I could it'll all be gray

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
But your picture on my wall

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
It reminds me that it's not so bad

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
It's not so bad

2ND VERSE

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
Dear Slim, you still ain't called or wrote, I hope you have a chance,

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG Em baritone chordEm
I ain't mad, I think it's just f***** up that you don't answer fans

C baritone chordC
If you didn't wanna talk to me outside your concert

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
You didn't have to, but you could've signed an autograph for Matthew

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
That's my little brother man, he's only six years old

D baritone chordD
We waited in the blistering cold for you

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
For four hours and you just said no

C baritone chordC
That's pretty s****y man, you're like his f***ing idol

D baritone chordD C baritone chordC Em baritone chordEm
He wants to be just like you man, he likes you more than I do

C baritone chordC
I ain't that mad though, I just don't like being lied to

C baritone chordC G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
Remember when we met in Denver, you said if I write you

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
You would write back, see I'm just like you in a way

D baritone chordD
I never knew my father neither

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
He used to always cheat on my mom and beat her

C baritone chordC
I can relate to what you're saying in your songs

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
So when I have a s****y day, I drift away and put em on

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
Cause I don't really got s*** else, so that s*** helps when I'm depressed

D baritone chordD C baritone chordC
I even got a tattoo of your name across the chest

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
Sometimes I even cut myself to see how much it bleeds

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
Its like adrenaline, the pain is such a sudden rush for me

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
See everthing you say is real, and I respect you cause you tell it

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
My girlfriend's jealous, because I talk about you 24/7

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
But she don't know you like I know you slim, no one does

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
She don't know what it was like for people like us growin' up

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
You gotta call me man, I'll be the biggest fan you'll ever lose

D baritone chordD
Sincerely yours, Stan, p.s.

C baritone chordC
We should be together too

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
My tea's gone cold, I'm wonderin' why

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
Got out of bed at all

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
The morning rain clouds up my window

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
And I can't see at all

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
And even if I could it'll all be gray

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
But your picture on my wall

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
It reminds me that it's not so bad

C baritone chordC
It's not so bad

3RD VERSE

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
Dear Mr I'm-Too-Good-To-Call-Or-Write-My-Fans

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
This'll be the last package I ever send your a**

Em baritone chordEm
It's been six months and still no words

C baritone chordC
I don't deserve it

D baritone chordD
I know you got my last two letters

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
I wrote the addresses on them perfect

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
So this is my cassette I'm sending you, I hope you hear it

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
I'm in the car right now, I'm doin' 90 on the freeway

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
Hey Slim, I drank a fifth of vodka, dare me to drive?

C baritone chordC
You know that song by Phil Collins, In the Air of the Night

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
About that guy who could've saved that other guy from drowning

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
But didn't, but Phil saw it all, then at a show he found him

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
That's kinda how this is, you could've rescued me from drowning

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
Now it's too late, I'm on a 1,000 downers now, I'm drowsy

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
And all I wanted was a lousy letter or a call

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
I hope you know I ripped all of your pictures off my wall

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
I love you Slim, we could've been together, think about it

C baritone chordC Em baritone chordEm
You ruined it now, I hope you can't sleep and you dream about it

C baritone chordC
And when you dream, I hope you can't sleep and you scream about it

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
I hope your conscience eats at you and you can't breathe without me

C baritone chordC
See Slim, shut up b****, I'm trying to talk

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
Hey Slim, that's my girlfriend screamin' in the trunk

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
But I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
Cause if she suffocates, she'll suffer more, then she'll die too

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
Well, gotta go, I'm almost under the bridge now

C baritone chordC
Oh s***, I forgot, how am I supposed to send this s*** out?

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC D baritone chordD C baritone chordC (2x)

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
My tea's gone cold, I'm wonderin' why

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
Got out of bed at all

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
The morning rain clouds up my window

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
And I can't see at all

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
And even if I could it'll all be gray

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
But your picture on my wall

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
It reminds me that it's not so bad

C baritone chordC
It's not so bad

4TH VERSE

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
Dear Stan, I meant to write you sooner, but I've just been busy

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
You say your girlfriend's pregnant now, how far along is she?

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
Look, I'm really flattered you would call your daughter that

D baritone chordD
And here's an autograph for your brother

G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
I wrote it on this Starter cap

C baritone chordC
I'm sorry I didn't see you at the show, I must've missed you

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
Don't think I did that s*** intentionally just to dis you

C baritone chordC D baritone chordD
But what's that s*** you said about you like to cut your wrists too?

D baritone chordD
I say that s*** just clownin' dog

Em baritone chordEm
C'mon, how f***ed up is you?

C baritone chordC
You got some issues, Stan, I think you need some counseling

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
To keep your a** from bouncin' off the walls when you get down some

C baritone chordC
And what's this s*** about us meant to be together?

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
That type of s*** will make me not want us to meet each other

C baritone chordC
I really think you and your girlfriend need each other

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG
Or maybe you just need to treat her better

D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
I hope you get to read this letter, I hope it reaches you in time

D baritone chordD C baritone chordC
Before you hurt yourself, I think that you'll be doin just fine

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
If you relax a little, I'm glad that I inspire you, but Stan

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
Why are you so mad? Try to understand, that I do want you as a fan

C baritone chordC
I just don't want you to do some crazy s***

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD Em baritone chordEm
I seen this one s*** on the news a couple of weeks ago that made me sick

C baritone chordC
Some dude was drunk and drove his car over a bridge

D baritone chordD G baritone chordG D baritone chordD
And had his girlfriend in his trunk and she was pregnant with his kid

Em baritone chordEm C baritone chordC
And in the car they found a tape, didn't say who it was to

D baritone chordD C baritone chordC Em baritone chordEm
Come to think about it, his name was, it was you...

Em baritone chordEm
Damn

About this song: Stan

"Stan" tells the fictional story of a fan who is obsessed with Eminem and writes to him without receiving a reply. The first three verses are delivered by Eminem as Stan, while the fourth verse is Eminem attempting to write to Stan, only to realize that he had already heard about Stan's death on the news. This song samples the song Thank You by Dido.
