CAPO ON 1

(Intro)

C C - F F - Em Em - G G

(Pre-Chorus)

C C
It's a really old city
F F
Stuck between the dead and the living
Em Em G G
So I thought to myself, sitting on a graveyard shelf
Am Am F F
As the echo of heartbeats, from the ground below my feet
Em Em G G (once)
Filled a cemetery in the center of Queens

(Verse 1)

C C
I started running the maze of
F F Em Em
The names and the dates, some older than others
G G
The skyscrapers, little tombstone brothers
Am Am F F
With Manhattan behind her, three million stunning reminders
Em Em G G (once)
Built a cemetery, in the center of Queens

(Chorus)

C C Em Em F F
You said, remember that life is, not meant to be wasted
G G C C (once)
We can always be chasing the sun!

C C Em Em F F
So fill up your lungs and just run
G G C C (once)
But always be chasing the sun!

C C - F F - Em Em - G G

(Verse 2)

C C F F Em Em
So how do you do it, With just words and just music, capture the feeling
G G
That my earth is somebody's ceiling,
Am Am F F
can I deliver in sound, the weight of the ground
Em Em G G
Of a cemetery, in the center of Queens
C C
There's a history through her
F F Em Em
Sent to us as a gift from the future, to show us the proof
G G
More than that, it's to dare us to move
Am Am F F
To open our eyes and to learn from the sky
Em Em G G (once)
From a cemetery in the center of Queens

(Chorus)

C C Em Em F F
You said, remember that life is, Not meant to be wasted
G G C C (once)
We can always be chasing the sun!

C C Em Em F F
So fill up your lungs and just run
G G C C (once)
But always be chasing the sun!

(Bridge)

C C F F G G
All we can do is try
Am Am F F G G
And live like we're still alive

(Pre Chorus)

C C
It's a really old city
F F
Stuck between the dead and the living
Em Em G G
So I thought to myself, sitting on a graveyard shelf
Am Am F F
And the gift of my heartbeat sounds like a symphony
Em Em G G (once)
Played by a cemetery in the center of Queens

(Chorus)

C C Em Em F F
You said, remember that life is not meant to be wasted
G G C C (once)
We can always be chasing the sun!
C C Em Em F F
So fill up your lungs and just run
G G C C
But always be chasing the sun!

(Bridge)

C C F F G G
All we can do is try
Am Am F F G G
And live like we're still alive
C C F F G G
All we can do is try
Am Am F F G G
And live like we're still alive

NOTE FOR ENDING: You can either go with the Pre-chorus thing that starts out the song like she does or, what I like to do, is the first two lines of the chorus except softer and stay in the octave for "sun" instead of going up like in the rest of the song, and fade off with a pretty C C chord. :)

Thanks xx
