A A G G D D
I was working part time in a five-and-dime,
G G D D G G A A
My boss was Mr. McGee.
G G D D
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind,
G G D D G G A A
'Cause I was a bit 2 leisurely.
G G D D
Seems that I was busy doing something close 2 nothing,
G G D D G G A A
But different than the day before.
G G D D
That's when I saw her, ooh, I saw her
G G
She walked in through the out door, out door.

Chorus:
A A G G D D
She wore a Raspberry beret
G G D D G G A A
The kind U find in a second-hand store
G G D D
Raspberry beret
G G D D A A
And if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
G G D D
Raspberry beret
E E A A
I think I love her

A A G G D D
Built like she was, uh, she had the nerve 2 ask me
G G D D G G A A
If I planned 2 do her any harm
G G D D
So, look here, I put her on the back of my bike and-a we went riding
G G D D G G A A
Down by old man Johnson's farm
G G D D
I said now, overcast days never turned me on
G G D D G G A A
But something about the clouds and her mixed
G G D D
She wasn't 2 bright but I could tell
G G
When she kissed me

She knew how 2 get her kicks

Chorus:
A A G G D D
She wore a Raspberry beret
G G D D G G A A
The kind U find in a second-hand store
G G D D
Raspberry beret
G G D D A A
And if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
G G D D
Raspberry beret
E E A A
I think I love her

D D A A D D A A
The rain sounds so cool when it hits the barn roof,

And the horses wonder who U are.
D D A A D D A A
Thunder drowns out what the lightning sees

U feel like a movie star
G G F#m F#m E E
Listen, they say the first time ain't the greatest

But I tell ya, if I had the chance 2 do it all again
G G F#m F#m
I wouldn't change a stroke 'cause baby I'm the most,
E E
With a girl as fine as she was then.

Chorus:
A A G G D D
She wore a Raspberry beret
G G D D G G A A
The kind U find in a second-hand store
G G D D
Raspberry beret
G G D D A A
And if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
G G D D
Raspberry beret
E E A A
I think I love her

About this song: Raspberry Beret

"Raspberry Beret" is the first US (and second UK) single from Prince and The Revolution's 1985 album, Around the World in a Day, released on 15 May 1985. The sound was completely different from any previous Prince track, incorporating Middle-Eastern finger-cymbals, stringed instruments, and even a harmonica on the extended version. The song was also more in the pop vein than ever before, though the 12-inch single and video of the song feature a funky intro. Read more on Last.fm.
