He told me several times that he didn't like my kind,
F F C C F F G G
'Cause I was a bit 2 leisurely.
F F C C
Seems that I was busy doing something close 2 nothing,
F F C C F F G G
But different than the day before.
F F C C
That's when I saw her, ooh, I saw her
F F
She walked in through the out door (out door).

[Chorus]:

G G F F C C
She wore a Raspberry beret
F F C C F F G G
The kind U find in a second hand store
F F C C
Raspberry beret
F F C C G G
And if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
F F C C
Raspberry beret
D D G G
I think I love her

G G F F C C
Built like she was, uh, she had the nerve 2 ask me
F F C C F F G G
If I planned 2 do her any harm
F F C C
So, look here, I put her on the back of my bike and-a we went riding
F F C C F F G G
Down by old man Johnson's farm
F F C C
I said now, overcast days never turned me on
F F C C F F G G
But something about the clouds and her mixed
F F C C
She wasn't 2 bright but I could tell
F F
When she kissed me

She knew how 2 get her kicks

[Chorus]:

G G F F C C
She wore a Raspberry beret
F F C C F F G G
The kind U find in a second hand store
F F C C
Raspberry beret
F F C C G G
And if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
F F C C
Raspberry beret
D D G G
I think I love her

C C G G C C G G
The rain sounds so cool when it hits the barn roof,
NC
And the horses wonder who U are.
C C G/B G/B C C G/B G/B
Thunder drowns out what the lightning sees

U feel like a movie star
F F Em Em D D
Listen, they say the first time ain't the greatest
NC
But I tell ya, if I had the chance 2 do it all again
F F Em Em
I wouldn't change a stroke 'cause baby I'm the most,
D D
With a girl as fine as she was then.

About this song: Raspberry Beret

"Raspberry Beret" is the first US (and second UK) single from Prince and The Revolution's 1985 album, Around the World in a Day, released on 15 May 1985. The sound was completely different from any previous Prince track, incorporating Middle-Eastern finger-cymbals, stringed instruments, and even a harmonica on the extended version. The song was also more in the pop vein than ever before, though the 12-inch single and video of the song feature a funky intro.
