Intro: G G, B B, C C, D# D#

G G B B C C
All alone
D# D# G G
It was always there you see
B B C C
And even on my own
D# D# D D
It was always standing next to me

F F C C
I can see it coming from the edge of the room

Creeping in the streetlight
D D F F C C
Holding my hand in the pale gloom
A A
Can you see it coming now?

G G B B C C (D# D#)
Oh, I think I'm breaking down again
G G B B C C (D# D#)
Oh, I think I'm breaking down

All alone
Even when I was a child
I've always known
There was something to be find

You know that I can see you coming from the edge of the room
Creeping in the streetlight

Holding my hand in the pale gloom
Can you see it coming now?

Oh, I think I'm breaking down again
Oh, I think I'm breaking down

All alone
On the edge of sleep
My old familiar friend
Comes and lies down next to me

And I can see you coming from the edge of the room
Smiling in the streetlight
Even with my eyes shut tight
I still see you coming now

Oh, I think I'm breaking down again
Oh, I think I'm breaking down again
Oh, I think I'm breaking down again
Oh, I think I'm breaking down

About this song: Breaking Down

The Breaking Down Songfacts says: Florence Welch, the frontwoman and primary contributor to Florence and the Machine, wrote much of her debut album, Lungs, about breaking up with her long term boyfriend, Stuart Hammond. The pair later patched things up and got back together but they eventually spilt up again. "Breaking Down", which evokes both mental fragility and childhood fears was inspired by the ending of their relationship for a second time.
