Can we use guitar string for ukulele? Yes. There are some string brand use guitar nylon stings for ukulele, especially nylon string for classic guitar. The question is, which are the right strings? Here is a quick guide for standard tuning GCEA

Ukulele <-- Guitar

G <-- E (re-entrant)/ D (low-G)

C <-- G

E <-- B

A <-- E

Yes, there are two "E" strings, same string for high-G tuning. For  low-G, use "D" string instead.
