Crucial Tips for beginners

Learn how to play with simple and easy to understand Ukulele Lessons for beginners.
Level: Beginner
Type: Quick Tip

For those beginning to play uke, or any string instrument really, make sure to keep your nails groomed fairly short, even and comfortable. Whenever you play, you should make sure to use the actual tip of your finger rather than have it flat on the fretboard. (like a pancake) If you learn to play with your fingers flat, there will be chords later that you simply will not be able to play until you relearn how to properly place your fingers. However, you will not be able to use your actual fingertips on the frets unless you keep your nails trimmed properly. It may seem unimporant, but how properly you keep your nails groomed will ultimately determine whether or not you can effectively play any instrument.
