Verse 2
The wind and the sea were having a fight about who gets to hurt the captain's pride. The waves were crashing on the bow while the crew were holding out below.
As the cook threw up, the cabin boy cried, the quartermaster prayed and the first mate thought he'd died, the captain ordered his boatswain Joe to cut the mainsail and let it go.

Verse 3
Before the battered old salt could endeavour the deed, the wind picked up and doubled in speed. The mast broke in two, the rigger drowned. The helmsman tried but couldn't turn the sloop around.
"All hands on deck!" the captain cried. He encouraged the crew; the navigator knew he lied. The Eliza claimed fifteen brave men’s souls as she ran aground on the Mixon Shoal.
