(Intro)

C baritone chordC
I put on a play in my old house
F baritone chordF
In my cape jumping on the old couch
Dm baritone chordDm
Putting up lights when it’s cold out
G baritone chordG
Mom and Dad both seats sold out
C baritone chordC
Show you my play

(2nd part before bridge)

C baritone chordC
Haven’t seen the old house lately
F baritone chordF
Wonder if they found my spaceship
Dm baritone chordDm
I don’t want my own love wasted
G baritone chordG
Tell me this is what you’re saying

(Bridge)
C baritone chordC
If you both outgrew one another,
F baritone chordF Dm baritone chordDm
I could start now looking for a lover,
A baritone chordA Dm baritone chordDm
But if love dies do I even bother?

(Chorus)

G baritone chordG C baritone chordC
I just really really really really wanna show you my play
F baritone chordF A baritone chordA Dm baritone chordDm
And I don’t want to do it for Dad, at Dad’s new place
G baritone chordG F baritone chordF
I worked really really really really hard let me show you my play
Dm baritone chordDm G baritone chordG C baritone chordC
And I don’t want to do it twice, cause it’s not the same.

(2nd part)

C baritone chordC
I’ve been on dates bringing flowers
F baritone chordF
Tryna be great for an hour
Dm baritone chordDm
You and me might grow sour
G baritone chordG
But if we don’t hold out then we’re cowards

C baritone chordC
I put on a play in my basement
F baritone chordF
Mom and Dad’s smilin’ faces
Dm baritone chordDm
But now I don’t know if they faked it
G baritone chordG
Guess everything is complicated

(Bridge)

C baritone chordC
If you both outgrew one another,
F baritone chordF Dm baritone chordDm
I could start now looking for a lover,
A baritone chordA Dm baritone chordDm
But if love dies do I even bother?

(Chorus)

G baritone chordG C baritone chordC
I just really really really really wanna show you my play
F baritone chordF A baritone chordA Dm baritone chordDm
And I don’t want to do it for Dad, at Dad’s new place
G baritone chordG F baritone chordF
I worked really really really really hard let me show you my play
Dm baritone chordDm G baritone chordG C baritone chordC
And I don’t want to do it twice, cause it’s not the same.

(Verses towards the ending)

C baritone chordC
You did everything, everything, everything, that you could
F baritone chordF A baritone chordA Dm baritone chordDm
We do everything, everything, everything, ‘til it’s through
G baritone chordG C baritone chordC
I’ll do everything, everything, everything, when I’m with you

(Ending verses)

C baritone chordC
But when I show you my play
F baritone chordF A baritone chordA
Will you pretend that you didn’t know if I made a mistake
F baritone chordF A baritone chordA Dm baritone chordDm
It’s gonna get really really really really bad before it’s okay
F baritone chordF G baritone chordG C baritone chordC
But maybe you’ll forget it all while you’re watching my play :)

Strumming patterns:
Intro:
DDDD

Second part of intro: (after the verse: “show you my play”)
DDUDDUUDUD

Bridge:

(constant down strokes) DDDD

the verse that goes into the chorus: “I just really really really really wanna show you my play”
Strum Down more aggressively (but don’t break your strings lol)
Then on the word “play” go back to the strumming pattern DDUDDUUDUD

Chorus:

Play DDUDDUUDUD for the whole chorus until the verse “and I don’t want to do it twice cause it’s not the same” which on that verse use single down strokes on each of the chords

2nd part:

Go back to using DDDD

Towards ending verses: DDUDDUUDUD

Last verses of the song: DDUDDUUDUD

very last verse: use single strokes for the ending
