Robert Michael Nesmith (born December 30, 1942) is an American singer-songwriter and musician, perhaps best known as a member of The Monkees. A pioneer of country rock, Nesmith notably composed "Different Drum", a hit for Linda Ronstadt (by way of The Stone Poneys).
