Hi ukists,

Today i'm going to show you how to do a slide. A slide is pretty much what it sounds like, a finger movement from one fret to another. Unfortunetly, it isn't as easy as that. To perform a slide, always make sure that you aren't pressing to hard (otherwise your finger will get stuck on the frets), or to softly (otherwise there won't be much of a sound).

First, lets start by trying a simple slide from first fret to second fret on the E-string (the one furthest away from you). Don't wait to long or the noise will ring out but don't do it to quickly either or you might blur the sound. Just to make things more complicated there a two types of slides, legato slides (the one you just did) and the, yes you are reading this correctly, funky slides. The funky slides are actually not that different from legato slides except right after your finger reaches its destination, your playing hand (right hand for righties, left hand for lefties) plucks the string you are sliding on. Give it a go.

I will publish another lesson soon but until then,

See ya,

Hasmat.
