Interesting project on kickstarter.com

Postby pootsie » 24 Aug 2012, 16:58

Check out this funding request for plastic uke production @ kickstarter.com:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sco ... ic-ukulele

It looks inyeresting, sounds good, and may well be a success.

Here is some more about it @ the Ukeeku blog:

Ukeeku is a cool blog to check out anytime, btw. Blogger Tim is a nice guy and gave me a kazoo!

What a great idea and well thought out! Wish I had the bucks to do that.

I did not like how the tuning nobs were, and how the neck was not rounded on the back. Also, the neck starts off skinny and ends really thick.

I agree it's a funky design.

On the other hand, an all-plastic uke lets you do this:

Humm... does it have anywhere what the body not being wood does to the tone of the sound? Seems like there'd have to be a significant difference.

Also, that video in the pool is hilarious and interesting. What a sound!

Looks like he was 95,000 dollars short of his target. Wonder if the idea is dead or if he'll try again.
